Sklenářovice – a place, where the nature meets a man
First settlement was described by a chronicler in 1009 as a gold mining village, probably of the Celtic origin. The village called Glasendorf received its name after the glassmakers who had occupied the settlement in 1651. It became the first glassmaking place in Bohemia. After the glass production had faded out, it became a rich agricultural village. Because the population of Glassendorf was purely German, all people were sent back to Germany in June 1946 as a result of the second WW.
Grazing cattle by state cooperative farm started a new era, which lasted until 1992. After that the Glassendorf valley remained deserted and devastated.
